Long time no see everybody! Please excuse us once again for being absent, but we’ve been working long and hard to bring you the best experience possible. So that being said we have a whole new world and some awesome new improvements!! Right now we have the spawn town of New Serenity and an up and coming town of Hammerfell currently up on the map.
Brick and quartz for the time beng will be inexpensive at the shop (once we get it up and running in the next week or so) so as to aid in the building of roads. If you'd like your road to feature different roads it can, just make sure it's a nice clean transition from the spawn/New Serenity roads to your road!
Certain spots at the heart of spawn are unbuildable, however, a good portion of the spawn and Serenity area is open to explore and build on. Note that Spawn will be ruled with an iron fist, anything built within Spawn is subject to being moved/flipped/moved elsewhere to fit with the layout. Please remember to apply for permission to build a town separate from Spawn and Serenity.
MEMBER APPLICATIONS EDIT! Because some people lack basic reading skills let me reiterate. If you are a current, or pre-exisitng member of MiningBros YOU DO NOT HAVE TO APPLY.
We now have an improved system to allow people to apply for membership on the server. Many of you may remember when you could log on to the server as a guest, but had to wait for an admin to come online to be promoted to member, or your friend logged on and you want to wait for an admin to promote him. Now we have an application system. What this means is that you can still join the server as a guest, look around, and explore. But you will need to be approved to get build rights. The reasoning behind this is to weed out the people who want to get on and grief right away and not wanting to bother with the application process. By filling out the application it creates a record of your interest to join so we can promote you asap providing you meet requirements. That way someones not logging in and on waiting for a admin. Once we see the app and approve it we promote you in game and a PM is sent to you from the website letting you know. This should hopefully cut down on wait time to become an active builder, as we can look at the applications when we might not necessarily be able to get on the server. We estimate wait times for someone to see the app between us 3 admins to be up to 4 hours depending who is not at work. You can click the apply to build button at the top of this page (only visible to registered members) to begin your application process. You do not need to apply if you have been a member before we started this new world.
NEW STAFF ANNOUNCEMENTS
We would also like to take the time to let you know that our previous admin Jeff (xFr1ct10nx) has stepped down from Admin to the position of Head Mod for the time being. Our previous mods, bluegecko, Gadex1, and npogson, have been demoted do to lack of activity on both Skype and the server.
we are happy to welcome our new moderator, Slayor504! He has been an active member on the server for over a year now and we are happy to welcome him to the staff team here at MiningBros. As we see server traffic increase we will look at potentially adding additional moderators, so if you would like to apply please do and we will keep a copy of the application on file for future use. You can apply for staff here. All non serious staff apps will be handled with affirmative action. Additionally, now if there is a mod or admin online you can now use the command /helpop to privately alert them of any situation on the server that may demand their attention.
INFRACTIONS
We now have this awesome system to keep track of wrong doing! The infraction system is based on a severity level of points 1 - 5 . If you happen to acquire 8 points total, you will be auto-banned from the server. On the flip side, you can also get virtue points which can potentially remove points if you have them, or just let us know that you’re an awesome helpful member of our society.
BOTTLED XP
Bottled experience is something we implemented quite a while ago but nobody seemed to take note or use of it. It allows you to pay 5 BroCreds to turn your experience into a bottle of xp, this will allow you to safely store experience points in a chest or even sell them in a shop! The commands to use this are /bottle [amount of bottles] (controlled amount of bottles) or /bottle max (warned this will fill all of your xp into bottles or if you do not have the funds will drain all your BroCreds.)
BOOKSHELVES (TO BE IMPLEMENTED SOON)
One of the plugins we are going to implement when they update to 1.5.2 for bukkit will be a bookshelves plugin. This will allow you to make bookshelves act like chests, for written books, maps, records, and some other stuff. You will be able to name the shelf too.
DONOR HOMES
Recently, we made it to where members get the /home command. Previously, this was a donator or higher only privilege. So now, to make things fair to our donors, we’re adding one additional home for each donor rank (so Donor Level 1 has two homes, Donor Level 2 has three homes an so on.) Fro the donors you can use /sethome [name] to set your additional homes and /delhome [name] to delete them. If you have multiple homes you can do /home to list your homes if you forget the name.
PLAYER HEADS
We have a cool new feature where if you’re in a PvP match with someone, they have a chance to drop a “head” with their player skin. This will come in handy with some upcoming combat related game plugins that we plan to implement very very soon. (look for more info on this in the near future.)
PLAYER SHOP REFRESHER
Also a reminder you can make your own player shops. Here is a easy video tutorial by Brotaoski on how to do it. Note since the video the plugin has changed where you click a chest first, and then the sign to make a shop.
As a final note, these forums are here for us to communicate and build community, so let’s use them! Brotaoski our beloved Tech Admin spent a good few weeks making this website to be a wonderful place for us to use, so let’s use it! Also, since we are up and running, feel free to tell your friends and show them our server! We’re also going to work on advertising on some websites to bring in more people so hopefully we’re going to see lots of awesome new faces here!
Also, last minute note, but with this new map we are now reopening the "Our World" gallery. So as you build please submit pictures.
Hey Miningbros! It's your admin team here with a quick update about the server, the 1.5.1 update, and map reset.
First of all, we're going to apologize for the server being outdated, right now we are working on a new map that should be up in the next 2-3 weeks that will be up to date and ready for fresh builds! We are going to wait just a little while longer to polish the starting area a bit more and to give the dev build a little bit more time to improve so you as our users have a better experience.
Second bit of news, we're refreshing our moderator team as our current one hasn't been active. Applications should go live within the hour and will be left open until the end of April, at which time the Admin team will make a final decision that will go out in a new news post. You can post an application over in the Staff Application forum page.
The third and final topic, we have listened and talked over your feedback on the current registration strategy, and that will be changing with the new world. Instead of going through a maze that auto-promotes like before the new members will be allowed to enter the server as guests. To gain member status they will be required to register on this site and post in an applications-esque thread, which we as an admin team will see and promote accordingly. This system while daunting and time-consuming will help control griefing on the server, as we will cross-check usernames with the global ban database for any previous griefing history. All new members will be required to have a thread, this is how, if an admin is not online on the server, they will be able to promote upon seeing the thread. The site is checked periodically by admins so a delay in promotion should only be a few hours, unless all the admins are working/sleeping/otherwise engaged.

Sorry we’ve been away, but our old site had some issues. And by issues we mean someone had gotten into our web host and changed some things with our files that tried to redirect users to a malware site. Ultimately this was not the first time this had happened. The other cases were very minor and easy to fix. This specific case was a bit more complex that damaged our infrastructure. Even after fixing the issue and changing the passwords I discovered the person was using a vulnerability within vBulletin or its 3rd party addons. Unable to locate the vulnerability we as a staff team decided to switch to a new, simpler, light-weight system.
Please note if you haven't yet run a malware and virus scan just to be safe. Use MalwareBytes Its awesome! For the past 2-3 weeks I have spent HOURS on this new system, tweaking and changing it to function better. My favorite and most noticeable of the new features (that literally took me a week to get working) is that your avatar is your minecraft skins face.
Databases went where?!
Due to this new site system, everyone has to re-register. When you go to register you must answer 1 of 10 possible minecraft and miningbros related security questions. If possible please make your site username also your minecraft username. In addition to this when you register you must enter your minecraft name. It has to be entered correctly (ie. You must provide correct capitalization and numbers. Please note that if anyone steals your username, you can report them to us via your friendly admins along with in game proof and the impersonator will be banned. NO EXCEPTIONS DON'T DO IT. Failure to enter your minecraft name correctly will make your avatar show as a black box. You can go to settings and fix your minecraft username but you will have to wait 12 hours for the system cache to delete your incorrect version and display the correct one.

If you didn't know, even though our site was offline our server was up still running 1.4.5. At the time of this post the server is still running 1.4.5 but as of Jan 31st a Recommended Build for 1.4.7 went live and is now at the top of my to-do list for MiningBros! So be prepared to play on an updated server soon. To the loyal users we still have, we please urge you to recruit new members and spread the word with others that we back in action! We no longer have the ability to mass email due to all the accounts be deleted. The only way to let everyone know we're back is by word of mouth.
At the top of the page you will see a Server link. That page will contain important and useful info regarding the server. Check it out!
World Map
This section will be a bit short, but as you can see I decided to make the world map overview live to the public. I tried to re-render it the other day but as you can see when you zoom in some parts of it are broken I will fix this when I am updating the server so don't worry :)!
Project Our World
One of the coolest features of this new system is its built in photo gallery that lets USERS submit their own photos with admin approval of course. So please start taking screenshots and sending them to us via the gallery tab at the top. Screenshots must be taken on default texture. And please no post production effects or filters if you can help it. If it does have post production I will judge whether we use them or not. I look forward as to how big this can get! Another cool feature of this is you can rate and comment on screenshots. Give it a try!
Site integrated donor store!
Ive made the donation process much easier to for some people! while the "/donate" command still works in game, I added a web user face that makes it easier to donate. This donation system allows for automatic account upgrades on the server, but not the website. Donors, while I have a list of all your accounts. As you register please PM me so I can update you on the forums.
Forums
One thing about the forums you have probably noticed compared to vB is that they are very basic and not as feature rich. Which honestly we are ok with. They do what they need to do since our forum user base is not as active as we would like. So lets try to be more active on it guys ;)
Missed Birthday
Due to site downtime you were probably unaware that on December 15. It was MiningBros 2nd birthday. MiningBros became official on December 15, 2010. To those who stuck with us that long you're awesome and you have no idea how much we appreciate you! Happy birthday to all of us!
Adventures in MiningBros (AiMB)
After a long discussion with resident filmmaker HomerSPC he as agreed to start up season 2 of AiMB once we get more users and things to do on the server such as mini games. We hope to see this start up soon!!
With all that said and done I once again welcome everyone back to our site. Lets get popular again! Please look around the site, and check out the forums. Even though the site is live again do note that if it goes into maintenance mode again (it wont be the 505 error maintenance) but rather this systems maintenance Im just updating something or adding on something I havn't yet.
